As of today, out of season, returns ~October. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Occasional, large-scale movements of wild Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) that originate in the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve and sometimes roam across Yunnan province.
The best-known episode began in March 2020 and drew global attention as a family group traveled north toward Kunming before returning to Xishuangbanna.
These movements are episodic and not a regular seasonal migration.
