Is West Coast Rock Lobster Walkout happening right now?

As of today, out of season, returns ~January. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Periodic mass strandings, locally called walkouts, occur when West Coast rock lobster (Jasus lalandii) move inshore during harmful algal blooms or low-oxygen events and are left on beaches at low tide.

Events are ecologically and economically significant and are associated with coastal red tides along the Western Cape.
