Is Valley of the Butterflies (Petaloudes, Rhodes) happening right now?

As of today, in season, building toward peak (~July 1). Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Petaloudes (the Valley of the Butterflies) is a shaded river canyon on Rhodes where the island subspecies of the Jersey tiger moth gather in large numbers after the wet season.

The insects (Euplagia quadripunctaria rhodosensis) aestivate on tree trunks and rocks during the hot months, creating a dense, stationary congregation that is visible to daytime visitors.
