Is Utila Whale Shark Season happening right now?

As of today, past peak, season runs to ~December 31. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Utila (Bay Islands, Honduras) is one of the Caribbean’s best places to encounter whale sharks (Rhincodon typus).

Individuals are recorded in every month, but concentrations rise predictably during two seasonal peaks tied to local feeding events.

Encounters are normally by boat; in-water interactions are managed by local dive operators and research partners.
