Is Snettisham Knot Whirling happening right now?

As of today, out of season, returns ~October. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Each autumn and winter, huge flocks of red knots and other shorebirds gather on the mudflats off Snettisham, Norfolk, and perform dramatic swirling gatherings as incoming high tides force them to flush and settle on exposed sandbanks.

The result is a nightly high-tide spectacle prized by birders and photographers.
