As of today, peak season now, through ~June 30. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
At Barracuda Point (Sipadan Island, Malaysia) large shoals of chevron/blackfin barracuda gather at the reef edge and often form tight, swirling 'tornado' vortices that can include hundreds to thousands of fish.
The formation is a predictable pelagic aggregation driven by currents and feeding/cleaning behavior, and is a signature dive attraction at Sipadan.
