Each summer the southwestern monsoon (locally Khareef) brings cool mist, drizzle and upwelling-cooled seas to Oman’s Dhofar coast.
From late June to September the normally arid hills, wadis and springs around Salalah burst into green vegetation, seasonal waterfalls and coastal blowholes—an annual meteorological transformation unique in the Arabian Peninsula.
