Each spring the rocky shoals of the Catawba River at Landsford Canal State Park carpet with Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies (Hymenocallis coronaria).
The species is restricted to shallow, fast-flowing rocky shoals in a few southeastern US rivers; Landsford contains the largest accessible colony and is the park’s signature natural event.
