Is Rainbow Eucalyptus Bark Peeling happening right now?

As of today, in season, building toward peak (~November 1). Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Eucalyptus deglupta, the rainbow eucalyptus, is the only eucalyptus species native to the Northern Hemisphere and the only one that naturally grows in tropical rainforests.

Its smooth bark continuously sheds in narrow vertical strips, exposing bright green inner bark that ages through blue, purple, orange, red, and maroon before flaking off again.

The process creates trees that look hand-painted.

Native to the Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea, it grows up to 75 meters tall in the wild.
