The Passage du Gois is a 4.125-kilometre tidal causeway between Beauvoir-sur-Mer and the island of Noirmoutier in western France.
The road is covered by seawater twice each day according to tidal cycles.
The most dramatic, extended submersions occur during spring tides linked to new and full moons, when the causeway becomes impassable for hours.
