Old Sow is a large tidal whirlpool and complex eddy system at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy, located between Eastport, Maine and Deer Island, New Brunswick.
It forms repeatedly when strong tidal currents interact with local bathymetry, producing standing waves, boils, and rotating eddies that are safest to view from shore or on guided boats.
