The Nyiragongo lava-lake glow is the persistent incandescent light produced by the active lava lake inside Mount Nyiragongo's 1.2 km summit crater.
The lake has been present intermittently since the 20th century; its nightly glow is visible from the crater rim and, on clear nights, from viewpoints in and around Goma and Lake Kivu.
Visibility depends on volcanic activity, weather, and park access.
