As of today, out of season, returns ~November. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each winter, large aggregations of the purple crow butterfly (Euploea tulliolus) gather in the Maolin valley and nearby forested slopes in southern Taiwan to overwinter.
The butterflies roost in bamboo and broadleaf stands, forming dense clusters that attract wildlife watchers and photographers from across Taiwan and abroad.
