The lowland streaked tenrec (Hemicentetes semispinosus) is an insectivorous mammal endemic to Madagascar.
In Andasibe and nearby forest reserves the species is most visible on guided night walks and along the roadside during the wet season, when mating, foraging, and juvenile emergence increase nocturnal activity.
