As of today, out of season, returns ~October. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
The Long-tailed Ground-roller (Uratelornis chimaera) is an endemic, range-restricted bird of southwestern Madagascar's spiny and semi-arid forests.
During the wet-season breeding period pairs excavate long sand burrows, perform crepuscular hooting and an unusual nonvocal wing/flight 'cracking' display, and raise chicks in family groups before dispersal.
