Lófthellir is a lava tube cave in the Mývatn/Krafla region with striking internal ice formations.
Cold air trapped in the tube preserves stalagmite and sheet ice so visitors can see dramatic blue ice and lava textures.
Access is by guided tour for safety and conservation.
