Is Lake Baikal Ice Rings happening right now?

As of today, out of season, returns ~January. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Circular ice rings are rare, roughly circular cracks or clear-ice rings that form on Lake Baikal's winter surface, most often observed in the shallow straits around Olkhon Island.

They are episodic, appearing only under a narrow combination of ice thickness, calm weather, local currents and subsurface gas activity, and are documented only a handful of times each winter.
