Each winter, large flocks of Greater White-fronted geese gather to roost on the shallow lakes of Izunuma-Uchinuma in Miyagi Prefecture.
At dawn many nights they lift off together and stream toward nearby rice fields and paddies, creating a dramatic aerial spectacle observable from nearby observation points.
