Is Grande Riviere Leatherback Turtle Mass Nesting happening right now?

As of today, peak season now, through ~June 30. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Grande Riviere on Trinidad’s north coast hosts one of the densest leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea) nesting assemblages in the Western Hemisphere.

Each nesting season thousands of nests are deposited along a ~1 km stretch of beach; nightly mass nestings (hundreds of females) are most likely during the late spring peak.
