Is Giant Ibis breeding display (Tmatboey) happening right now?

As of today, peak season now, through ~August 15. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

The Giant Ibis (Thaumatibis gigantea) is a Critically Endangered, largely non-migratory waterbird restricted mainly to northern and eastern Cambodia.

Breeding occurs in large canopy trees near seasonal wetlands and trapeangs.

Tmatboey village and the surrounding Kulen Promtep landscape support one of the species’ last and most important confirmed breeding concentrations, where community-led ecotourism provides the only regular opportunity to observe breeding activity.
