During the marked dry season in Gashaka-Gumti National Park, permanent rivers, hippo pools and remaining waterholes become focal points where elephants, buffalo, antelopes, hippos and large primate groups (including Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzees) concentrate.
This seasonal congregation improves visibility for wildlife viewing but is sensitive to river flow and local human activity.
