As of today, out of season, returns ~March. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each spring tens of thousands of Snow Geese (and often thousands of tundra swans) stage at Freezout Lake Wildlife Management Area near Fairfield/Choteau, Montana.
During the peak period in late March, large flocks lift off the water at dawn in dramatic 'blastoff' events and feed in surrounding grain fields before continuing north to Arctic nesting areas.
