As of today, out of season, returns ~July. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each summer and early autumn, Atlantic walruses (Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus) gather in multi-hundred to multi-thousand animal aggregations at traditional haul-out sites across the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
Haul-outs form where shallow feeding grounds and retreating sea ice coincide, producing one of the Arctic's most dramatic pinniped gatherings.
