As of today, out of season, returns ~July. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each year the Ferlo plateau in northern Senegal moves from an extended dry state to a short, intense green season after the arrival of the West African monsoon.
Temporary ponds, seasonal riverbeds, grasses and annual forbs rapidly green and flower, creating large-scale but short-lived landscapes of vegetation and wetlands that attract birds, livestock and local pastoral activity.
