As of today, out of season, returns ~September. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each autumn the wild reindeer of Iceland's Eastfjords enter the rut, when males compete for mates with vocalizations, antler clashes, and displays.
The phenomenon is concentrated on highland plateaus and mountain slopes around Egilsstaðir and coastal fjords, and is best observed from vehicles or designated trails at dawn and dusk.
