Is Curaçao Coral Mass Spawning happening right now?

As of today, in season, building toward peak (~August 15). Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Each year Curaçao's reef corals release gamete bundles in synchronized 'mass spawning' events.

Multiple broadcast-spawning species (Orbicella spp. complex, Montastraea/Orbicella, Acropora, Dendrogyra, Agaricia and others) spawn on predictable nights tied to the lunar cycle, producing visible clouds of eggs and sperm in the water column that attract many observers and researchers.
