As of today, out of season, returns ~November. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each dry season tens of thousands of waterbirds concentrate in the Crooked Tree lagoon complex; Jabiru storks (Jabiru mycteria) nest in northern and central Belize beginning with the wet-to-dry transition and, after chicks fledge, birds from across the region commonly congregate in Crooked Tree’s shallow lagoons.
The concentration is driven by falling water levels that concentrate fish and other prey.
