Is Cres Island Griffon Vulture Nesting happening right now?

As of today, past peak, season runs to ~August 31. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

The Eurasian griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) breeds colonially on steep sea cliffs around the Kvarner islands, with the largest and most intensively managed Croatian population concentrated on Cres and nearby islets.

Nesting is strongly seasonal: eggs are typically laid in winter, chicks hatch late winter to spring, and fledging occurs in early to mid-summer.

Local conservation and a Beli rescue/visitor centre support monitoring and rescues of fledglings that fall into the sea.
