Each spring and autumn hundreds to tens of thousands of Common Cranes (Grus grus) stop to feed and roost in the shallow Bodden lagoons of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft.
The site is one of the largest staging areas in Central Europe, producing daily dawn departures and spectacular dusk roost arrivals during the migration window.
