Small-bodied red ghost crabs (Ocypode macrocera) form dense congregations and are regularly visible on parts of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf coastline.
The animals are habitat specialists of sandy beaches and tidal flats; human disturbance and vehicle traffic have reduced local numbers in recent years.
