Is Congo River Seasonal Flood Pulse happening right now?

As of today, out of season, returns ~October. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

The Congo River seasonal flood pulse is the predictable annual rise and recession of river and wetland water levels across the Congo Basin, driven by the seasonal migration of the ITCZ and tributary rainfall.

The basin shows two high-flow periods (roughly October–January and April–May) that inundate large floodplain systems (Cuvette Centrale, Malebo Pool, Ruki/Lake Tumba area), shaping fisheries, floodplain forests, navigation and local agriculture.
