Chott el Djerid is a vast endorheic salt pan in southern Tunisia.
After seasonal rains shallow sheets of water collect on the salt crust, creating expansive mirror reflections of sky, dunes and distant mountains.
The effect is ephemeral and depends on recent rainfall, wind and temperature.
