As of today, out of season, returns ~June. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each summer large numbers of Kamchatka brown bears gather at Kuril Lake and adjacent river mouths to feed on mass salmon runs.
The predictable concentration of bears at shallow channels and river mouths creates one of the world’s most accessible large-bear viewing locations, but access is tightly controlled by the Kronotsky Reserve.
