As of today, out of season, returns ~October. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each winter thousands of Black‑necked Cranes (Grus nigricollis) migrate from higher plateau breeding grounds to the Caohai wetlands (Weining, Guizhou).
The site is one of China’s largest wintering concentrations for this vulnerable crane and offers predictable dawn and dusk flight and foraging displays.
