As of Jun 19, 2026, 8:54 PM, past peak, season runs to ~June 22. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each year in the pre-monsoon to early-monsoon window the forests and lakeside groves around Bhandardara (Akole, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra) host large congregations of bioluminescent Lampyridae.
The display is a mating-season flash display concentrated in humid, riparian forest patches and lakeside vegetation, visible after dusk for a narrow seasonal window.
