As of today, out of season, returns ~November. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Benifuji, or crimson Fuji, is the winter optical effect when the eastern sunrise illuminates Mount Fuji's western slopes with a crimson or orange-red hue.
It requires clear, low-humidity air and the right sun angle, and is most common in the cold, clear months from December to February.
It is distinct from the summer Aka-Fuji, which reddens the bare, snowless cone.
