As of today, out of season, returns ~March. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Each spring the slopes around Barsey (Varsey) in West Sikkim erupt in colour as scores of Himalayan Rhododendron species flower across the 104 sq km sanctuary at about 3,000 m (10,000 ft).
The display is driven by elevation and spring temperatures and is a main seasonal attraction for botanists, birders and trekkers.
