Is Anza-Borrego Desert Superbloom happening right now?

As of today, out of season, returns ~February. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

When winter rainfall and mild temperatures align, the soils of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park erupt in carpets of annual wildflowers and colorful blooms across desert flats, canyon bottoms, and foothills.

Bloom intensity is highly variable year-to-year and dominated by a mix of annual species (sand verbena, desert sunflower, primroses, poppies) plus perennial shrubs and desert lilies.
