Is Annular Solar Eclipse happening right now?

As of today, next: February 6, 2027. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

On 6 February 2027 an annular solar eclipse traces a narrow path where the Moon sits slightly too far from Earth to cover the Sun completely, leaving a bright ring or "ring of fire." The path of annularity crosses southern Chile and Argentina, then sweeps across West Africa through Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria.

Namibia and most of southern Africa see only a partial eclipse.

Safe solar filters are required at all times, since the Sun is never fully covered.
