Alkefjellet and nearby Svalbard sea cliffs host dense colonies of Brunnich's guillemots (Uria lomvia) that nest in vertical ledges.
From late spring through midsummer the cliffs teem with adults, eggs, and noisy chicks, offering one of the most concentrated seabird spectacles in the High Arctic.
