As of today, out of season, returns ~July. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.
Akafuji, or Red Fuji, is an optical effect where Mount Fuji's slopes take on a vivid red or pink hue at sunrise or sunset due to alpenglow and low-angle sunlight.
The effect is most visible on clear, cold mornings with low humidity and little atmospheric haze, and is a classic seasonal sight around the Fuji Five Lakes and nearby viewpoints.
