Is African Penguin breeding colony (Boulders Beach) happening right now?

As of today, past peak, season runs to ~August 31. Earth Exhibit tracks the live conditions and flags it the moment it is on.

Boulders Beach, Simon's Town, hosts a land-based colony of African penguins (Spheniscus demersus).

Penguins are present year-round, but nesting activity is concentrated in the Southern Hemisphere late summer to winter months when pairs lay eggs and raise chicks close to the shore.

The site is managed by South African National Parks as part of Table Mountain National Park.
